I want my office to be quiet, the loudest thing in the room by far, should be the occasional purring of the cat. - Linus Torvalds

Lukan Snopovs

Welcome to my website! This page is for displaying my personal projects, most of which you can find hosted on open source sharing platforms such as GitHub and more recently Source Hut (I've migrated from GitHub to SourceHut, as I don't agree with the general hipocracy of the platform as a whole).

TL;DR I'm a developer specialising in Linux and other low-levels systems. My skills include; C, C++, BSD (OS), Linux-based OSes (GNU-based preferably but I've used busybox with musl instead of libc), Linux-kernel development, Python, Bash, Batch, Server managememt, Javascript, CSS & HTML, web-optimisation, Figma, Unix (Conceptual), OS development, Tkinter (Python), Flask (python), sqlite3.h (C), yajl.h (C), x86 ASM, Networking (digital and physical). Anything not listed can be easily adapted as i'm a speedy learner :).

I love free (as in freedom), open-source software and community-driven projects. I'm a low-level developer so most of my software is oreinted around minimal and optimised software. Along my self-taught programming journey, I collected a set of favorable software that matches my personal opinion of what good software looks like. Some of this software is made by Suckless software (software that sucks less) and GNU/FSF Orgs. My opinion is that software should stay compact, modular and resource optimised.

I've been interested in logic and how things work for as long as I remember, as soon as I got my hands on a computer I started learning low-level systems and programming. I've been using Linux excusivly for majority of this time but I spent a year on-and-off BSD whilst learning server management (I maintain the BSD home-server thats hosting this website RIGHT NOW!!). Whilst using Linux I decided to self-teach myself some basic programming languages such as Python and Javascript, I found that I enjoyed software development so I went down a several-year rabbit-hole of learning design (I have tad of Figma experience) and then the web-dev trio (HTML, CSS and JS). I've never been employed specifically for my technical computer/programming knowledge so in my free time I still enjoy to code. All of my public projects are written in ANSI C which is my favorite language. Apart from the already mentioned languages I've become somewhat fluent in Bash (POSIX shell scripting language)and Batch (DOS scripting language).

This website is one of my more branched projects, Its a full blown hosting system using POSIX socket.h and other build-in/standard networking libraries. The website you currently see (Homepage) is actually being served pragmatically from a C function which uses macros from a semi-framework I made) to serve webpages.

The modern digital world is a hellscape, its such a pain having to navigate cross-site tracking, targeted-ads and recently the huge increase in AI marketing/productions. Massive corperations, like other scum on this earth, are exploiting you for your personal internet usage and other information in order to sell it to targeted ad companies or any other entity willing to turn a profit. Having to mitigate the constant surveilance and censorship is sickeningly frustrating. Bring back the old early-days internet where the people had the power and the community made the decisions, not huge companies.
